1.Take the car for a drive to warm up the oil

2.Find a flat place to park the car, keep it in gear and set the emergency brake.

3.Use blocks behind the tires to ensure the car is stable.

4.Use a jack to raise the front end of the vehicle and put it on sturdy jack stands.

5.Find the oil pan and loosen the nut on the bottom of the pan.Don't remove this nut completely – just loosen it a little to
Try and prevent the oil from spilling.

6.Place the drain pan under the oil pan and remove the nut all of the way. Allow the oil to drain into the pan – this might take a 2-3 minutes.

7.Locate the oil filter and use the oil filter wrench to remove it carefully.Be careful here because the oil inside the filter will be hot.

8.Take off the oil cap from under the hood of the car.

9.If you have time, allow the oil to drain completely for 30 minutes or so. 

10. Coat the seal on the new oil filter with oil and secure the new filter to the car

11. Put a brand new seal on the drain plug and replace the plug into the pan.

12. Take off the drip pan from underneath the car.

13. Get rid of of the old oil properly.

14. Using a funnel, fill the motor with fresh oil.

15. Put the oil cap on and start the engine.

16. Look at the dipstick to make certain the oil level is ok.
