They can also be easily recognized with the services that they provide.

The emergency vehicles are given priority in movement on the roads. This helps the emergency vehicles to reach their destination as fast as possible without any hindrance. Speed is of essence in emergencies. The oncoming emergency vehicle puts on the audible warning signal to warn of its approach. These emergency vehicles are allowed to proceed ahead of others with other vehicles stopping or veering away to the side to give way. The local laws often specify that these emergency vehicles ought to be given priority in movement. They are also permitted to deviate from the traffic laws and regulations when on duty. It is not uncommon to see ads that announce emergency vehicles for sale.

These emergency vehicles are designed and are provided features specifically required to the nature of emergencies that they are to respond to.  They are therefore more expensive than their counterparts without these special features. Naturally, used emergency vehicles are attractive for its lower price.
