Daytona, Florida is the popular spot for the annual Daytona Bike Week event, which took place this year from February 27th to March 8th. The inaugural running of the Daytona 200 was in 1937, which is when this longstanding motorcycle tradition was founded. This is a 10 day event that features well over 500,000 people who trek to the Sunshine State from all over the country to showcase their beloved hogs. The most popular brand of motorcycles on display during the week is Harley Davidson bikes.The annual event boasts the motorcycles, gear, and Motorcycle helmets of the Harley Davidson company, one of the most popular and successful motorcycle manufacturing companies in the world.

Concerts, motorcycle racing, parties and street festivals are just some of the events that take place throughout the 10 day celebration in Daytona, Florida. Daytona Bike Week ends each year with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the most popular motorcycle rally in the country. World War II saw the suspension of the Daytona Bike Week from the years of 1942-1947 because of World War II.

The amount of attendees to the Daytona Bike Week grew over the years because of the promotion of William France Sr., the co founder of NASCAR. People gravitate towards bike week each year even if they don’t own a motorcycle just because they want to enjoy the party atmosphere.

Motorcycle helmets are worn by the majority of the bikers if they feel like doing so.

Any chance the bikers get to show off their motorcycle gear is not taken for granted because they might see these people only once per year. Because of events across the country some attendees of Daytona Bike Week can see their friends more than once.

There are other motorcycle events for people to attend across the country but they aren’t as involved as Daytona Bike Week. Other motorcycle events draw people in the area of 300,000, much less than Daytona Bike Week. Daytona Bike Week pulls in 500,000 people while other events pull in 300,000 people or less each year. Motocross gear is available for purchase at the Daytona Bike Week. There have been some problems with fights and other outbursts at Daytona Bike Week over the years that have led to the death of some participants. 15 people died in 2000, 20 people died in 2006, and eight people died in 2007.
