Many times the regular forklift won't give you the type of distance you want. Other times you will find yourself lifting more than is safe with your present forklift. The answer to both of these Problems is a forklift extension. These give you the support you need when lifting heavy or long pallets.
They let you reach further by giving your forklift additional length. This could actually increase the productiveness of your forklift. Forklift extensions are available to fit various blade sizes. Installing the extension is easy ; all you want to do is slip it over the standard forklift blades. The dimensions of your extension should be equivalent to the width of the blade.
There are OSHA standards which dictate the length of extensions that you can use. The length of the extension won't be longer than fifty percent of the length of the first blade. The extensions are produced using steel and then coated with a powder coat finish. This finish can help hinder them from breaking down. There are multiple different lengths of forklift extensions available but the 2 most common are sixty and 72. There are 2 main options available for securing your forklift extension blades. One choice is a fast release mechanism which uses a pull pin to secure the extensions. This is not as safe as a safety loop which is welded on and gives you much safer attachment.
The extensions can either be angled or non-tapered. Then making your selection think about the kind of loads you sometimes carry. When using forklift extensions you should usually keep safety in mind. Inspect your extensions before use to ensure that they don't seem to be damaged in any way. Always double check the securing mechanism to ensure that they are correctly secured. When forklift extensions are incorrectly secured there's a risk of accidents and injury.
