There are plenty of things you will need if you are building a go cart at home.  The most significant detail you'll need is a go cart frame.  These are the foundation that all the other items will be built around.  There are 2 major sorts of go cart frames that you can choose from : unwelded and welded.  Unwelded frames can be bought or made at home.  Welded frames are almost always bought previously constructed.  If you possess your own mig welder you can choose to either create your own frame or purchase one.   

Because most people will  not have a mig welder, or be acquainted with someone who does, it is generally best to get a go cart frame which is already welded.  It is possible to get inexpensive go cart frame kits as well as low-priced go cart frames.  If you know where to look it's going to be easy to obtain the ideal go cart frame.  The Net is probably the best location to shop for inexpensive go cart frames.  This allows you to compare costs and designs without driving in town.

There'll be a difference between off-road and fun cart go cart frames.  If you are making an off-road go cart you'll need a very robust frame which encompasses a roll cage.  Because off-road go carts are sturdier and include more materials you can expect to pay more than regular go cart frames.  Expect to pay 2x as much for an off-road go cart frame as you would for a regular fun cart go cart frame.
